Abstract

English teaching minimum portion for kindergarten and elementary student level is one factor that causes the students' basic English low competence. Based on this fact, this community service program is intended to increase the students' basic English knowledge and skill. The main objective is to increase English vocabulary and pronunciation skills in the level of vocabulary, clauses, and simple sentences. The program was conducted by following four main steps which are survey and asking permission from the community and students' parents, material and schema preparation, main service actions, and writing the program paper report. The writer conducted the program independently in 5 hours of one-day service occasion. The main benefit of this program is to increase the students' basic English knowledge and skill and positive personal character. The most visible verbal skill improvement is in pronunciation and the different use of intonation in different sentence types. The students' character improvement includes measurable confidence, respect, and politeness.
